QUETTA: Complete boycott was observed in all courts of Balochistan against the appointment of three additional judges in the Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Monday. The lawyers staged a protest within the premises of BHC against the appointment. Talking to media, Zahoor Shahwani, president of the BHC bar association said that lawyers had passed a joint resolution against the appointment. “Despite objections by the lawyers, controversial and non-Balochistani judges have been appointed, which is tantamount to violating the rights of local lawyers,” he said. He added that the lawyers do not possess any legal rights to impugn on the appointment of any judge, however questioned why lawyers who belong to Balochistan are never appointed in any high court. He said the quota of Balochistan in Islamabad High Court has not been honoured deliberately since many years, which is why the lawyers will continue with their struggle.
