RAWALPINDI:

As the festive day of Eid comes close and markets are thronged by visitors, the city district government and cantonment administration have failed to eliminate encroachments from the markets.

The encroachments not only cause problems for pedestrians but are also creating hurdles in the flow of traffic, revealed a survey conducted by APP.

“Carts operating without permission are a nuisance and a grave security risk as their carts do not undergo security checks,” said a trader.

Long queues of vehicles can be witnessed at major commercial areas of the city. A city government official said they are also trying to resolve the parking problems amid the great rush of shoppers and motorists.
