DI Khan jailbreak: IG prisons sent on special duty

PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government on Thursday made the acting inspector general prison K-P, officer on special duty in establishment department as a result of last week's massive jailbreak in  Dera Ismail Khan.

According to a notification, superintendent central jail Peshawar (acting IGP K-P) Khalid Abbas (BS-18 officer of prisons) was asked to report immediately back to the establishment department.

The notification named Zakir Hussain Afridi (BS-19) as Abbas' interim replacement IGP prisons K-P on his existing pay and scale.

Likewise, officer of prison department Aizaz Ahmad (BS-18) was named as the new superintendent central jail Peshawar. He is currently the superintendent of Mansehra jail .

A day earlier, DI Khan DSP Central Prison Ghulam Rabbai was suspended and DPO Khalid Sohail was made officer on special duty with immediate effect.

Nisar Marwat was appointed as the new DPO of DI Khan by K-P IGP Ihsan Ghani. Marwat assumed charge of his office on Wednesday.

Inspector General Police (IGP) Ihsan Ghani had already suspended SP Elite Force Tauheed and DSP Elite Force Behram Khan and 25 other members of the force for their incompetence during the militants attack at the DI Khan jail.

This is not a punishment at all. If you want real punishment? Demote him to the lowest level and force him to come on duty even if he resigns a thousand times. Strip him of all the privileges. Do this today and you would not have this issue again for a thousand years to come.

He has been rewarded not sacked.................being made OSD is that you get to do nothing with pay and benefits intact.
