Self-inspection: Educational institutions, hospitals to submit reports

Three-member committee formed to pay surprise visits to public hospitals.

ISLAMABAD:

The Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) has directed all federal educational institutions, hospitals and social welfare and special education departments to submit self-inspection reports

CADD Spokesperson Rafique Tahir while speaking to The Express Tribune said the issues highlighted after the inspections would be taken up by the division and plans chalked out to overcome them.

“The objective of these inspections is to overcome all shortcomings in educational institutions and hospitals to provide better services to Islamabad’s residents and to ensure that a comfortable working environment is in place for workers,” he said. They will also help encourage capacity building and increased efficiency, he added.



Tahir confirmed that the majority had already completed their self-inspections would submit their final reports to the CADD secretary by August 5.

Meanwhile, a CADD official requesting anonymity said that a three-member committee headed by the division’s joint secretary has been constituted to pay surprise visits to public hospitals.

The committee was constituted after receiving a complaint from a senior Polyclinic Hospital doctor regarding the absence of doctors during duty hours.

“Some of the doctors don’t arrive on time, due to which patients coming from far-flung areas suffer and wait for hours,” said the official. The official added that necessary action would be taken against doctors and other medical staff found to have been guilty of unannounced absence from duty.
