KARACHI:

Former Test cricketer Basit Ali who accompanied the women’s team on the tour of United Kingdom as batting consultant, resigned from the post, citing commitments for his department.

“I require time to form the women’s team of my department [SNGPL] and it will be difficult for me to manage both duties,” he said.

Meanwhile, an official close to the former cricketer suggested that Basit has resigned in protest for not getting due credit.

“There was no special mention for Basit in PCB’s congratulatory messages despite the fact that under him the players showed vast improvement,” said the official.

“It may be the reason why Basit has resigned.”
