Ten mortar shells were allegedly fired from Afghanistan in South Waziristan on Thursday, injuring a woman and two children, Express News reported.

The mortar shells were fired near the Angoor Adda area.

A senior Pakistani diplomat had met with the Afghan government on May 6 this year to discuss the escalation of cross-border firing.


Kabul accuses Islamabad of playing a double game in supporting Taliban insurgent attacks on US and Afghan troops.

Pakistan denies the allegations and is locked in its own battle against the Pakistani Taliban.

Pakistan is also seen as vital in bringing stability to Afghanistan as most Western forces prepare to withdraw by the end of next year.

The United States and other powers involved in Afghanistan have been trying to promote cooperation between the Asian neighbours, who have a history of mistrust.
