Alternative Fuel: LPG lobby proposes short-term fix

ISLAMABAD: Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Distributors Association underlined the need for the government to take solid measures for promoting LPG as alternate fuel to overcome energy shortage in the country. Talking to the media on Tuesday, the association’s Chairman Irfan Khokhar was of the view since it took time to build infrastructure in short period for import of the Liquefied Natural Gas(LNG), the government could promote the LPG as alternate fuel to immediately ease energy crisis, confronting the country. He said the LPG association will fully co-operate with the government by providing workable proposals for promoting LPG to extend immediate relief to consumers who were already faced with high prices of daily-use commodities. He added that private companies have planned to establish as many as 1000 (LPG) auto gas stations, across the country. He hoped the initiative would be encouraged at government level as it could not afford to supply gas to the CNG sector for too long.
