Security lapse: Prisoner escapes from custody

The SHO said Rashid Khan, who hails from Kamalpur Hattar, was detained on murder charges.

HARIPUR: An under trial prisoner escaped from police custody from district courts on Tuesday, said SHO Adalat Khan.

The SHO said Rashid Khan, who hails from Kamalpur Hattar, was detained on murder charges and taken to jail on a 14-day judicial remand. The accused, however, managed to remove his handcuffs and flee from the court as the police were taking him back to the lock-up of district courts with other inmates. The police gave chase, but Rashid disappeared in the crowd.
