KARACHI: Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) managing director Misbahuddin Farid blamed the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) for the unannounced decrease in water supply. It is unfair for the citizens especially in the fasting month when demand has already gone up, he said, adding that the demand for water would further increase in the last ten days of Ramazan when people would observe aitekaf. He requested the elected national and provincial representatives to take notice of the situation and direct Wapda to supply water to Karachi from Hub Dam so that supply is restored to 100 million gallons. KWSB had notified Hub Dam project director about the problem several times but to no avail. If the quota is not restored within a few days, areas getting supply from North Karachi Pumping Station could face severe water shortage, he added. He further added that supply was also disrupted due to load-shedding.
