KARACHI: Pakistan batsman Khalid Latif scored a whirlwind 95 to propel Port Qasim Authority (PQA) to a 28-run win on the Duck-worth Lewis Method (D/L) against HBL as rain ruined the second day of the third Corporate T20 Cup at the Moin Khan Cricket Academy.

HBL opted to field first, but their ploy backfired as PQA went on to amass 179 for six in 20 overs. Latif assaulted HBL bowlers with three sixes and 13 boundaries in his 61-ball innings. However, Latif was run-out with three balls left in the innings. Meanwhile, Daniyal Ahsan chipped in with a 25-run cameo as Abdul Ameer took two wickets.

In reply, HBL were jolted by Abdur Rauf’s three wickets. Latif was named man-of-the-match.

The second match between SSGC and Advance Telecom was also marred by rain as it was cut short to a 15-over affair.

SSGC opted to bat first and were provided a flying start by Awais Zia’s 19-ball 38 aided with two sixes and five boundaries as they ended up with 119 for six. Mohammad Irfan scored 26 with two sixes and similar number of boundaries while Babar Azam took two wickets.

In reply, Advance Telecom were 33 for one in 4.3 overs as Sharjeel Khan hit three sixes in his unbeaten 26 when the match was called off and both teams had to settle for a point each.
