A lower court in Abu Dhabi found the Indian man guilty of raping the girl at a school cafeteria where he was employed and had "threatened to kill" her if she reported the attack, lawyer Hussein al-Jaziri said.
The ruling, which must still be confirmed by the courts of appeals and cassation, will "give hope to the victim and her family that justice has been achieved," said the lawyer.
He urged the parents of children who had been victims of rape, a taboo among conservative Emirati families, to report such crimes.
Executions are rare in UAE, where death sentences are typically commuted to life in prison.
In February 2011 an Emirati man convicted of raping and murdering a Pakistani child in a Dubai mosque was executed - the first in 10 years.

Can India have this? The immorality and corruption in the Indian judicial system has taken it's toll overseas too. I am not political in any way but I believe in equal justice for every human being. There is a part of me that wishes India was a kingdom ruled by strict, fierce and efficient rulers who would pass these laws under the whiff of an eye. Being a republic, India has not done anything good for it's citizens or NRI's. Ashamed to be a part of this country whose resources and manpower oust the superpowers of the world but lack the drive and leadership to do it.
@syed: Rape is still "zana" till proven in court. So it will require 4 witnesses for woman to absolve her. Besides, mullahs have ruled out the proof of DNA-testing to be used in Shariah-court.
@tamur. You need to educate yourself before you speak. It requires four male witness to prove adultery. No where does it say that you need four proving rape
@1984: The UAE and Dubai in particular has taken a beating on the world stage after the recent incident of rape of a Norwegian woman. When she was raped by an Arab there and went to report it, she was instead accused of adultery and jailed! The Norwegians were shocked and outraged which lead to her release but the guy got away with rape and a few months charge for adultery! What kind of justice is that?

We made a stupid law requiring 4 male witnesses to prove a woman was raped.
I hope justice is done and the culprit is hanged to death or beheaded, if thats the rule out there..
Wish we had laws like this :(
