QUETTA:

Security has been beefed up in and around the main markets and shopping malls in the provincial capital, to preempt any act of terrorism or violence, as shopping for Eid gains momentum.

A police official told APP on Sunday said that police officers dressed in plain clothes have also been deployed, adding that police patrolling was also increased in the local markets to protect women and children present in the markets for shopping.

“The security has been strengthened manifold following increasing threats by the miscreants to hit shopping points in the city”, he said.

He assured that the police department in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies had prepared an effective security plan for the provincial capital during Ramazan.

“Under the plan the law enforcement agencies patrol the city round the clock besides. Deployment of officials has also been increased at all important points”, he added.
