ABBOTABAD:

The residents of Nariyan held a protest on Sunday against the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) for its delay in replacing a faulty transformer.

According to Sardar Shakeel, a resident of Mohallah Nariyan, the power transformer in their locality had developed a fault two days ago however despite repeated complaints to Pesco officials, the power company did not replace the transformer due to which the people of the area were faced with water shortage along with electricity outage.

Police said the enraged residents surrounded a Water and Power Development Authority grid station on Murree Road on Saturday night forcing Pesco officials to issue a new transformer for the locality.

However, Sardar Taj, another resident claimed the new transformer also burned up within minutes of installation.  The angry protesters chanted slogans against Pesco and blocked Murree Road. They dispersed peacefully after police and Pesco officials arrived and assured them the issue would be resolved.
