Another Ramazan T20 event begins

SBP clinch narrow win against SSGC in tournament opener.

KARACHI: The DHA City 3rd Corporate T20 Cup kicked off with a bang as SBP clinched a nail-biting two-run win against SSGC in the opening match of the tournament at the Moin Khan Cricket Academy.

Set a target of 153, SSGC were off to a reasonable start as Awais Zia made 52 off 48 with a six and five boundaries. Lack of support from the other end, however, meant SSGC were bundled out for 130 in 19.4 overs as last batsman Faizan Khan was run out. Faisal Yasin, Salman Ali and Saadat Munir took two wickets apiece.

Earlier, SBP were bowled out for 132 in 19.5 overs. Asif Ali scored a 25-ball 29 while Naved Yasin scored 22.

Off-spinner Atif Maqbool and Mohammad Irfan took three wickets each while Tariq Haroon got two scalps.



The tournaments is featuring eight teams which have been divided in two groups. Group A includes SBP, SSGC, Advance Telecom and NBP, while HBL, PQA, Omer Associates and Candyland form the other pool.

Top stars to be seen in action

The Ramazan T20 Cup organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) did not feature national stars as they were touring the West Indies but they will be in action at this event.

The likes of Shahid Afridi, Ahmed Shehzad will turn up for HBL — who will also have Younus Khan, Hasan Raza and Imran Farhat while Nasir Jamshed, Wahab Riaz, Hammad Azam will be back for their NBP side.

In addition, paceman Mohammad Irfan will be featuring for Omer CC alongside Mohammad Sami.

Former Test cricketer and tournament director Nadeem Khan said the aim of the event was to provide quality cricket to the action-starved fans.

why isnt sharjeel kahn in Pak team ? he is the next Sehwag.
