Inspection: Judges delegation visit Malir jail

The judges inquired about the prisoners’ legal proceedings in courts and assured them of speedy justice.

KARACHI: District and sessions judge Malir Muhammad Yameen, assistant sessions judge Amjad Soomro and judicial magistrates visited Malir district jail on Saturday. Senior superintendent jail Mirza Shuja Haider Baig, deputy superintendent Shakir Hussain Shah, assistant superintendent Asif Sarfaraz and other jail officials were also present on the occasion. The judges visited various barracks and inquired about the prisoners’ legal proceedings in various courts and assured them of speedy justice. A large number of prisoners requested early hearing dates and review of their court decisions. Seven prisoners informed the visitors that they have completed their jail sentences but they are still in prison as they lack the resources to pay the fine. Saiban chairman Haq Nawaz Akhtar paid their fine and travelling expenses and secured their release.
