Judging performance: DG prosecution discontent over disposal of cases

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Director General for Prosecution Muhammad Arif Khattak expressed dissatisfaction about the overall efficiency of prosecutors and said the system needs much improvement, according to a press release issued on Thursday.

Khattak added the number of convictions and disposal of technically faulty cases and appeals in Peshawar was very problematic. He further said the Peshawar district was an area of most concern, adding prosecution in other districts had improved.

The DG lamented the poor performance of prosecutors in the city and cautioned that their individual performance is being judged. The performance card shows there was no visible progress considering the total cases decided by the sessions court from January to May 2013. A training programme will commence soon at the Pakistan Academy of Rural Development and the National Institute of Management, Peshawar.
