BAHAWALPUR: Dozens of Model Bazaar shopkeepers protested against the Market Committee by closing gates to the bazaar and declaring a strike, after a shopkeeper was arrested for overcharging. Police say that Muhammad Shahbaz was arrested after an argument with a Market Committee official over the rate list. The shopkeepers said that the Market Committee prices were sometimes lower than those at which they purchased the commodities. They also said that the price lists were issued late. The protest ended when Shahbaz was released from police custody.
