His team will play the Sacramento Capitals in the quarter-final today in Dallas.
The 33-year-old finished his grass-court season at Wimbledon last month and headed to the US to join his new team in the WTT. Last year, Aisam played for Kansas City before transferring to Texas Wild.
According to Aisam, his experience in the tennis league has been ‘priceless’.
“It’s been an honour playing for the Texas Wild and gaining support among the coaches,” he told The Express Tribune.
Texas coach Brent Haygarth, who previously mentored Kasas City, brought Aisam to the club.
“It’s my second year at the WTT and my proudest moment came in my last game where I played against the great John McEnroe,” said Aisam. “I couldn’t have even dreamt of playing against McEnroe when I was growing up.
“I play for my team in the mixed doubles and doubles matches. I’m really happy with the league because I also have Bob and Mike Bryan at my club, so I get to observe their game too.”
Texas will be playing their last home-match today, and just in his second season at WTT, Aisam could be handed a chance to play in the finals.
“It’s a great transition for me as well, from grass courts to hard court right before the US Open,” he said. “It’s also part of the preparation for the grand slam.”
