A three member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has been formed to review a petition filed by the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) senator Raja Zafarul Haq.
Haq had filed the petition in the Supreme Court on Tuesday to seek an earlier date for the presidential election as Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had refused to bring the forward.
The petitioner has prayed to the court to direct the ECP to change the date of the presidential election from August 6 to July 30.
Earlier the ECP had stated that it was not constitutionally possible to hold early elections.
ECP Secretary Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan on Monday said that the ECP will hold the presidential election on August 6 as scheduled. Khan added that the reasons given by the federal government for early elections were insufficient.
Some government quarters are trying to bring the date of the presidential elections forward as several parliamentarians will be out of the country to perform Umra and many others would be observing Itikaf.

And of course another PMLN petition is granted hearing within minutes of being filed. All PMLN wants to do is to have Presidential elections before the bye elections schedule for August 22 which might result in a united opposition candidate to win the election of president. And as usual the judiciary is doing PMLN's bidding as it did during past five years.
