ISLAMABAD: An accountability court in Islamabad extended the physical remand of Tauqir Sadiq - ex-chairman Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) – for 10 more days, Express News reported on Tuesday.

Sadiq is accused of embezzling Rs83 billion through issuance of the CNG licences and mismanagement. He is currently in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The accountability bureau had asked for the extension as it needed more time to investigate the accused.

Sadiq will now be presented before the court on August 2.

The Ogra ex-chairman had earlier challenged his conviction and three-year sentence in Islamabad High Court (IHC) on July  20.

In his petition, filed through his counsel Sardar Asmatullah Advocate, Sadiq had said that the accountability court did not give him the chance to defend the allegations levelled against him.
