Infrastructure: Commissioner visits Marrir bridge

Rawalpindi Commissioner visits Rawat Industrial Area to inspect the fabrication of a steel superstructure.

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Commissioner Khalid Masood Chaudhry visited Rawat Industrial Area on Monday to inspect the fabrication of a steel superstructure at Marrir Railway Bridge Project, which is being carried out by National Logistic Cell (NLC). He was flanked by acting District Coordination Officer (DCO) Talat Mehmood Gondal, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General (DG) Chaudhry Naseer Ahmad and former PML-N MNA Malik Shakeel Awan. NLC Project Director Brig (retd) Shahid Manzoor said work on fabrication of the superstructure was being carried out round-the-clock in two 10-hour shifts, even during the Ramazan. All material and equipment required for the project has already been arranged, he added. During the briefing, the RDA DG added that the 82 foot bridge was one of the largest steel railway bridges being constructed in Pakistan as in the past, only 60 foot-long steel bridges were built by Pakistan Railways.
