"We have asked for a six months' time from the Supreme Court to hold elections," said Shah, adding that peace can only be achieved through the joint efforts of the federal and provincial governments.
He said that meeting with the Minister of Interior, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan proved to be productive.
Khan visited Karachi on Monday to be briefed on the security situation of Karachi.
Shah’s Pakistan Peoples Party has been at loggerheads over a local bodies election with other parties from Sindh when it first came to power in 2008. By depriving sindhs urban areas from their metrpolitan rights, the ppp fovernment is pushing sindh towards division on urban-rural lines hence reviving the phoenix which had now been dead for decades. History will judge how myopic were sindh's rulers.
They don't want to hold LB polls in Sindh because they are afraid that MQM will regain its popularity due to its good LB performance in the past (2005-2009).
