The crime rate in the city does not seem to have abated during Ramazan.
As many as 14 motorcycles, a car, several mobile phones, gold ornaments and millions of rupees had been stolen and citizen injured on Saturday and Sunday.
Police said armed robbers had taken away Rs60,000 from a petrol station on Satiana Road near Chak 75-GB. They held the station’s manager Arshad at gunpoint and opened fire when some of the staff resisted. Police said that a passerby, Pathan Bibi, was injured and taken to Divisional Headquarters Hospital, where her condition was later said to be stable.
The police were also informed about three incidents of robbery at Allah Rakha’s house in Amin Town, Shamim Bibi’s house in Chak 102-JB and Hafiz Abid’s house in Balochni. The robbers took away millions of rupees in cash, mobile phones and laptops from their homes, police said.
A car was snatched near Officer’s Colony. Police said that motorcycles were stolen from People’s Colony, Madina Town, Allama Iqbal Colony, Jhang Bazaar, Hussain Road in Nazim Abad, D-Type Colony, Jinnah Bagh, Afghan Abad, Nishat Abad, Elahi Abad, Kaleem Shaheed Colony, Novelty Bridge on Samundri Road and Kashmir Bridge on Canal Road.
Police said Ramazan in Tandlianwala, Akbar Ali near Killianwala, Sarfaraz in Garden Colony, Naeem Faisal at Sheranwala Chowk, Hammad near Gourmet Bakery, Jamaat Ali in Tariq Abad and Yasir in Saeed Colony were deprived of cash and their cell phones and held up at gunpoint.
Robbers took away 35 bales of cloth and a camera from a shop owned by Suleman Javaid, in Peoples Colony. Several car batteries were stolen from a shop in Madina Abad, police said.
