ENCOUNTER: Kidnapped child recovered

FAISALABAD: The police on Saturday recovered a kidnapped child and arrested three men. Police spokesperson Aamir Waheed said Mureedw ala Police had received a complaint on July 18 that Qaisar Ali Khan, resident of Chak Nankana Sahib, and his two accomplices had kidnapped a four-year-old boy Muhammad Atif while he was playing in a street. His father, Asif Ali, later received a call from the kidnappers who demanded a Rs600,000 ransom the boy’s release. He informed the police who traced the location of the kidnappers. The kidnappers said they would collect the ransom near Chak 103-RB, Phalahi on Friday night. A police team recovered Atif but the kidnappers tried to flee and exchanged fire with the police from a field. After an hour and a half, the police managed to round up three men while the fourth managed to escape. Those arrested were identified as Qaisar Ali, Zahid Razzaq and Mehdi Khan. The man who escaped was identified as Shahid Razzaq. The police said Qaisar was a nephew of the child’s mother. The police also seized a motorcycle, three pistols, six magazines and 12 bullets.
