Special Powers: Govt sets FIA against electricity thieves

Section 39 A of Electricity Act has been added in FIA’s schedule of offences.

LAHORE: The federal government has assigned special powers to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) regarding initiating legal action as well registration of criminal cases against electricity thieves, The Express Tribune has learnt. The move follows Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s directions. Section 39 A of Electricity Act has been added in FIA’s schedule of offences, sources in FIA revealed. Anti electricity theft task forces have been constituted at all four FIA zonal offices in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, sources said. After getting new powers, the FIA can directly catch electricity thieves and register cases in respective FIA anti corruption circle police stations.

What electric pro's called LESCO could not do now The biggest thieves of them all will do. Ha ha! Bureaucracy loves the Sharifs. Last time he gave the construction biz and Wapda to the Army. I think someone stole this nations common sense and happened in school.

A small award should be on offer to informants to make the process easy and workable. Those giving false information can be gifted to the police for a pleasant treatment for an hour or so.
