Bilal’s death comes a day after the paramilitary soldiers shot dead a taxi driver, allegedly for failing to stop his car. About a half dozen cases of extrajudicial killings in the custody of law enforcement agencies have surfaced in the recent past.
The alleged militant of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Farhan, was killed allegedly by torture in the custody of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) on July 13. Meanwhile, an alleged mastermind of the attack on Justice Maqbool Baqar was arrested in an injured condition. He later died at the hospital.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement unit chief, Ajmal Baig, was also killed in a similar manner allegedly by the Rangers on May 28. Earlier, the alleged mastermind of the Abbas Town bomb blast, Aslam Mehsud, who was in CID police custody, was killed during an encounter with militants in Surjani Town. The CID apparently took him there to identify the hideouts of his companions around three months ago.
Meanwhile, alleged gangster, Saqib Boxer, was also killed in June allegedly by the Rangers in Lyari.
