Suspended for doing his job

Letter July 19, 2013
Is it not a good reason for the speaker of the Balochistan Assembly to suspend the parliamentarian?

KARACHI: On July 18, 2013, as reported by the media, MPA Sanaullah Zehri accompanied by a large number of armed guards (read goons), tried to enter the premises of the Balochistan Assembly. His guards were rightly stopped by the police, as an Assembly is a place to promote peace and not to demonstrate arms. This resulted in a scuffle and hot words were exchanged between the police personnel doing their duty and Mr Zehri.

Mr Zehri should have been arrested and proceeded against in a court of law. Instead, the SP City Police was suspended for doing his duty, which is highly unjust. While one has the highest respect for the SP Police, who took the  right stand in line with his duty, one must condemn the cowardly police bosses for taking action against the SP and thus siding with criminality in Pakistan. Is it not a good reason for the speaker of the Balochistan Assembly to suspend the parliamentarian?
