The Kohsar police arrested a money changer on Wednesday for illegally detaining an army officer and a policeman in his office.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sohail Ahmad said that Colonel Imran Haider went to Pakistan Money Changer in Blue Area to change Rs0.5 million into a foreign currency on Tuesday. He was told to leave the amount and come the next day as they were out of the currency at the time.
“When he came there the money changer again asked him to come on Thursday (today) upon which the colonel lodged a complaint with the Kohsar police,” said Ahmad, adding that the SHO then asked him to go with the colonel and resolve the matter peacefully.
He said when they reached the money changer’s office, the owner, Shehzad and the colonel exchanged harsh words after which the former locked both the officials in his office at gunpoint.
The ASI later informed his superiors and the issue was brought to the notice of the chief of Islamabad Police who sent teams to the site to arrest Shehzad. The army officer and the business owner were in the police station trying to resolve the matter.
“The colonel said he won’t lodge an FIR against Shehzad if he returns his money,” said Ahmad. “If the matter was not resolved amicably, a case would be registered against the money changer.”

Lol. Good one, civilians mooching off the army for a change.
@Larki Desi: 0.5m is 5 lacs...It's not hard for a Colonel to have 5 lacs, after all he's a working man.
where did all this money come from? is it clean money?
The Col did the right thing by lodging an FIR/complaint at the local police station instead of taking matters into his own hands. Obviously harsh words should be avoided, but if someone has essentially stolen your money, you won't exactly be willing to be amicable. I'm also surprised that the Col is willing to drop charges if the money is returned, despite the fact that the money changer broke the law by detaining the Col and the police officer at gunpoint. The army culture is changing --- under Mush, the Col would have thrashed the money changer on the spot and shifted him to an undisclosed location!
what else should we expect from our shining colonels?
Ok Colonel Sahib....Most Imp, why did you leave your cash with HIM?
