The Michani police on Wednesday morning busted a major terrorist gang engaged in sabotage activities in the city and recovered large quantities of explosives, suicide vests and other materials used in the production of bombs.
The police had received intelligence information that a local cleric in Hassan Gari, Qari Iqbal, a resident of Lachi Kohat, was harboring a suspicious man in his living quarters. Qari’s wife had reportedly locked the door from outside and left, making it seem as if no one was home to avoid suspicion.
A police contingent was assembled and the house was raided. Though Qari managed to escape, the police arrested suspected terrorist Fazal-e-Malik, a resident of Tirah, Khyber Agency currently residing in Burj Nasir Khan Mathra.
The police recovered four suicide jackets, 50 grenades, 90 detonators, 23 receivers, and 120 meter prima cards, along with other items. Extremist literature of the militant group, Harkatul Mujahideen, and a notebook on bomb making were also recovered from the house.
