KARACHI:
A district and sessions court dismissed on Monday the interim pre-arrest bail plea of four suspects, including Shahrukh Jatoi’s brother, Nawab Ali Jatoi, who have been accused of helping Shahrukh escape from the country using fake travel documents.

Muhammad Yamin, the Malir district and sessions judge, dismissed the bail plea of Shahrukh’s brother, Nawab Ali Jatoi, director for one of the companies run by Sikander Jatoi, Muhammad Khurram, supervisor at Gerry’s Danata Syed Salman Shah, and a passenger services assistant Wasi Akhtar, after hearing arguments from all the counsels.

The suspects were granted interim pre-arrest bail in the case earlier and matter was fixed for confirmation or otherwise. After the decision was announced, the Federal Investigating Agency (FIA) tried to arrest the suspects. The judge, however, barred FIA from taking the suspects into custody from the courtroom.

As the suspects walked out of the courtroom, their counsels along with lawyers of the Malir Bar Association encircled them and took them to the bar room where they stayed for more than a couple of hours.

Protection for suspects

Meanwhile, the counsel for Nawab Ali, Aamir Mansoob Qureshi, submitted an application for providing protection to the applicants, Nawab Ali, Khurram and Akhtar, before the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court.

The SHC ordered to grant protection to three suspects for appearing before the SHC for interim pre-arrest bail. The counsel for Shah, Rana Muhammad Iftikhar, however, handed over the custody of his client to the FIA.

The other three were taken to the SHC where the court granted them interim pre-arrest bail against the surety of Rs500,000. The court fixed July 23 for confirmation or otherwise in the hearing of the bail applications.

On the request of the counsels, the hearing of the interim pre-arrest bail plea of two directors of Fazal-e-Rabbi (Pvt) Ltd, Muhammad Abu Bakar Dochki and Muhammad Omer Dochki, was fixed for July 21.
