Kidnapped Policemen: Search operation flounders

Police have so far searched 700 houses and big colonies around the National Highway but no arrests could be made.

ROJHAN: In a bid to recover nine policemen kidnapped in the Kacha area of Rajanpur, police have extended their search operation to both sides of the Indus Highway. Police have so far searched 700 houses and big colonies around the National Highway but no arrests could be made even after a week. Gangster Ghulam Rasool, also known as ‘Chotoo’ and other gang members had escaped towards the tribal area of Balochistan, with eight policemen as hostages. They killed one police officer named Ghulam Abbas, when Punjab Inspector General (IG) Khan Baig arrived three days ago. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Omar Laleeka is determined that they will soon arrest all the criminals, and the police officials will be recovered safely. Talking to The Express Tribune, he said that they had arrested locals who were supporting gangsters and investigations were under way.
