The prisoners were brought to the court amidst tight security for an identification parade, where a witness identified them as the criminals involved in the blast.
After the hearing was adjourned, the prisoners managed to flee easily while the CID police officials were taking them back to the jail.
Even the court security failed to stop them.
Additional Chief Secretary Home Department Muhammad Waseem said that this incident of prisoners escaping from City Court is suspicious and investigation will be carried out.
This is not the first case of its kind. Earlier on Thursday, three criminals involved in serious terrorism cases fled from a court lockup in Karachi.
Ammar, Arsalan and Zubair were brought to the Anti-Terrorism Court for a hearing and were kept in the lockup until the hearing commenced. However, they managed to cut open the bars of the small window in the lockup and escaped.

@Mohammad: Is this a joke ! People escaping from courts what are we a banana republic ?
Musharraf Mian said the same thing when told by Afghans that Laden was enjoying Pakistani hospitality. We all know how that turned out to be :)
Why blame Raymond Davis ?
Anyhow the court will declare them innocents because of lack of evidence. They saved the nation of their food bill in jail.
Poor guy who identified them during parade, his life is in danger. May Allah swt protect him and his close ones.
No wonder that former ISI chief said a few days ago , US official told him that they can buy any one in pakistan with a Visa
A charge sheet to the persons responsible for keeping the prisoners securely under arrest, followed by punishment as per rules. Assignment of responsibility to an inspection team to ensure that all escape routes are properly sealed and if necessary guarded to prevent escape. KEEP PRISONERS CHAINED EVEN WHEN THEY ARE USING TOILET FACILITIES.
We are more worse than a banana republic. Its like a jungle law and order situation
@Ayesha M...
What a joke...in Mustafa Kamal Regime none of the culprits from MQM will even go to Jail...so courts are out of question...
PPPP and MQM are sides of the same coin...alas there is no one to protect Sindhis...:/
This is the height of the irresponsibility. There is also a possibility that some people may have taken money from the prisoners to make their way to escape, as now-a-days every thing can be purchased by paying money.
Waiting eagerly for some politician claiming international hands involved behind this.
For the ruling party to get an iota of recognition by the citizens, it will have to publish the report, sans censor, and punish the irresponsible police and security personnel in public hearings. Salams
Great News !! Bravo , now they are going to kill even more Pakistanis on the streets .. hats off to our systems.
I am looking information

Is it too hard to believe the Abbotabaad report?
We are living in troubled times, police can save these antics for later. Nothing will change in Karachi unless we get an elected Mustafa Kamal with policing under him
For a ruling party that supports a banned terrorist outfit (People's "Aman" Committee), this is no surprise!
