After teenage activist Malala Yousafzai addressed the UN General Assembly on her 16th birthday, Shahbaz Sharif tweeted:

Wearing a pink head scarf, Malala told UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and nearly 1,000 students from around the world attending a Youth Assembly at UN headquarters in New York that education was the only way to improve lives.
“I am not against anyone, neither am I here to speak in terms of personal revenge against the Taliban or any other terrorist group. I’m here to speak up for the right of education for every child,” she said.

@Ali Tanoli: For sane, rational and sensible people to pay heed to what you have to say, you first have to learn how to think and critically analyse. Not taught what to think and regurgitate whatever you have been indoctrinated with.
hate to admit it, but agree with Shahbaz. Separately, why is he always involved in matters that have nothing to do with Punjab, for which he is the CM (and based in the PROVINCIAL assembly).
i also saw a picture of Nawaz' trip to China, where Shahbaz was beaming along in all the pictures. Why do we need the CM of a province on a trip like this? Even most of the investment agreements are centered around Gwadar, so still don't see the need to have Punjab CM along with you. but then again i'm a daft citizen, not one of our well educated political leaders. Mujhey kya behtar pata :)
@Tayyab faheem:
The petty and irrational pro-Taliban reaction, which is more steeped in hate at the outside world and those who correctly call out the extremist terrorists eating Pak from the inside. Its amazing how Aafia Siddiqui happens to be remembered, knowing full well that she had ties to extremists, so much so that every Al Qaeda and Taliban militant in their ransom demands keep asking about her. Is she a hero for being in a US jail or for planning to commit terrorist attacks?
Malala had written about the Taliban takeover of Swat, and their shutdown of their schools. That is how she became famous. She continued to publicly and bravely condemn the Taliban, unlike Pak's politicians, for being against girls' education and attacking school girls or their schools, which is a fact. So the Taliban decided to target her, and hence she was shot in the head. Not this hysterical ignorant delusional excuses of yours, where you can only be prejudiced and see only drones, but apparently not the thousands killed by terrorist bombs, that includes schools.
What a politician Shahbaz Sharif is
Appeal to the pro-Malala Pakistani and the sane world's sentiment
Throws in a 'neutral' criticism that segues into...
...an appeal to the anti-Malala xenophobic conspiracist and pro-Taliban Pakistani sentiment.
A hypocritical petty political smear masterfully done against a 16 year old, like as if she's a political rival instead of a state honorary, who indeed is giving a pleasing speech for global and Pakistani consumption at the UN, but Shahbaz tries to make that sound like a BAD thing. He must be in campaign mode.
@sajida: "Tayyab faeem have not forgiven her for not dying,or giving up" bibi Sajida, forgiving or acceptance was taught in MADRASSAS, financed by HOLY BROTHERS.
malala has forgiven those who tried to kill her but it seems people like Tayyab faeem have not forgiven her for not dying,or giving up.
The real daughters and characters of this nation are Arfa Karim and Afia siddique, Not the MALALA. The reason because what she telling the BIG LIE to the world that there is a country called Pakistan where if a girl goes to school she is shot in the head...(not just a few girls in a specific region, but ALL GIRLS.) She reinforced the prejudiced image in the minds of civilized world that Muslims ans specially Pakistanis are barbaric and women are treated as cattle. Its a real shame for her.
Who is MALALA?? , I just know those innocent girls who are being killed by US drones while going to their schools in Wazirstan, I just the innocent students who were killed inside their school in Dama Dola Bajaur by US drones.
She is a victim and we feel sorry and responsible for her but she is not an icon or symbol. Thousands die every year, kids especially from Drone and bomb attacks. They do not have the chance to get foreign treatment and education. I'd rather salute their courage. True Pakistani would have stayed instead of fleeing the country.
@S: She said all children should receive an education. Do you disagree with that? That's hardly an idea that is limited to the West. Do you think that girls should not be educated? Are Pakistani women only suitable for cooking, cleaning, and making babies? Please explain your views.
long live Shehbaz..only he have the courage to speak against fasion trend
@Ali Tanoli: "Jamia Hafsah too in U.N for speech with Malaka" Sir name of the girl is Miss MALALA and I can sure say that In Hafsah were many MALAKAS , but not Malala.
"Global Consumption" -ha! ha! - author, didn't you notice she was speaking at the UN?
Politics means manipulation. When our politician opens his mouth, then be sure, that either he shall talk nonsense or has a pre prepared agenda to manipulate the people against each other, FOR HIS/THEIR OWN INTERESTS!
Malala is NOT a politician. Not yet! Therefore she is not manipulative. Her strength is her naturalness! Her mystical aura of innocent honesty and her her resolute voice has shaken the souls of the global society.
She has successfully aroused the awareness among the European people, that we all Pakistanis are not terrorists and most of us are equally suffering from this LONG BEARDED MOUSTACHE-LESS INHUMAN IDEOLOGY OF THE BEDOUINS.
I would suggest Mr. Sharif and all my country fellows to watch the hollywood academy award winner movie BEING THERE with Peter Sellers as Mr. Chance!!!!
@Umer The system of Pakistan unjustified education system one for rich and none for poors shame on this system and its believers.
@Omer:
Benefit of doubt? Even after Gojra, Shanti Nagar and Badami Bagh? Even after saying 'we and Taliban have the same idealogy'?
@Ali Tanoli:
Why? To justify the cause of terrorists? Does the world already not know what we believe in?
I wish they would have a some Girl from Jamia Hafsah too in U.N for speech with Malaka. and one more thing those kids in Lal Mosque were orphan from northern area earth quack.
SHOWBAZ shariff ! No doubt remains of your inner convictions...You were and still remain the true legacy of Zia ul Batil !
Sharif GANG, you are simply jealous that Malala spoke from a STAGE, which no one of your offspring even dare dreaming off. So stop criticizing a kid and show what you are capable off.
If Pak ruling elite, Generals, Politians and Media thinks they are gonna get away as usual, they are mistaken. Just refusing to report on REAL evidence, because they cannot connect, is NOT going to work!
You can suppress the evidence all you want, but all these events like daily bomb blast, Malala, Swat Flogging Vedio etc are False Flag MAINLY because of the evidence of media/officials not reporting on the FACTS! You can go on and on about how there are butchers in Waziristan, Malala shooting and Swat Flogging Vedio. But the fact is, that media do not have a SHED of real checkable evidence linking daily bomb blast with anything or Waziristan, other than they is head of suciude bomber and DNA test and sweeping statements.
Masses do not believe nor care what Media/Ruling elite "Tell Us" about these events in past 10 years. Masses do not SEE one at the crime scene! What Masses DO clearly see at the crime scene is what Media/Ruling elites/US puppets refuse to report on.
Well guess what? Anyone can follow the trails of past 10 years with simple clicks on his desktop. War Profiting Mafia, Oil, Oil Route, Middle East, US Banks etc. ALL the evidence as to what REALLY happened. The fact that media refuse to report on the real events/evidence that these all are False Flag Operations.
Malala episode is just like Swat Flogging Video the lead up to the Swat Operation followed by Waziristan Genocide war is a prime example of how feminism is used to construct and disseminate negative stereotypes about Muslim women to whip up support for warmongers and war profiteers.
Malala is a very lucky girl to have survived a terrorist attack and now enjoys higher standards of living. Malala Day, however, has nothing to do with 'Girl Power' - it is rather Western Imperialist Power, for staging her as a heroine survivor from the Taliban and thereby distracting the masses from the real terrorism, that is Western imperialist invasions, wars and occupations in Muslim countries, in which thousands of girls and children are killed every day. Where is an "International Day" for them? Malala is another Western imperialist darling to keep the world happy and 'inspired' while the real terrorism continues. Remember this. Don't be fooled and keep focus of the bigger picture (courtesy of Leigh Tuohy).
On a separate note, while Lee Rigby's funeral is covered with maximum honour and attention, there was hardly any reporting on a bomb attack targeting a mosque in Tipton. If this attack was conducted by a Muslim, the media (BBC, SKY and LBC) would have cried for a week. Muslims are no longer humans and they are the new negroes and native Americans. Welcome to the world of Western Imperialism, where only few deserve to be treated as humans. I wonder whether that day will ever come when all Pakistani "Malalas" killed in drone attacks will receive a proper funeral with honour and media coverage? Will the survivors of these drone attacks ever get a chance to share their story at the Seciruty Council... Justice will prevail and the world will be in peace...peace.
Lolzz... Shahbaz sharif has deleted his tweet! Moral of the story is, think before you speak (tweet)! :D
I am glad that SS listened to Malal's speech. The two Sharifs are not known to have an attention spans of more than a few minutes. It goes to show that they have improved. Also admirable is the fact that he understood, ON HIS OWN, that the speech was for a global audience. Bravo. I hope he understands that both the bullets, Taliban Bullet and the Bullet Train, aim to deprive millions from education and health.
Her whole speech was a drama, she is simply a tool used by western powers to further their agenda. And she and her family are happily selling themselves
Shahbaz has deleted his tweet What a u-turn specialist!
Its hard to be surprised at CM's words when this is what goes on in Punjab;
3 Christian women paraded naked in Pakistan, probe ordered
In fact, Fifi Haroon's, Ali Salman Alvi's and Marvi Sirmed's tweet were highly rude.
He began by acknowledging it was a good speech. Where is the problem?
Also he just wrote that her speech seemed to written for global consumption; which is true. He did not say that it was a good or bad thing to do. Again where is the problem?
I don't think in this particular tweet he was being rude to Malala in any way. Some people just read too much into things and do not give others benefit of the doubt.
As of today, Pakistan is known only for Malala and Terrorism. No Bullet trains till there are bullets of terrorists having field day in Pakistan.
What did CM achieve when he was 16?
May be Hafiz Saeed should have addressed the US. At least I would have given him standing ovation.
This woman's courage is unbelievable.
I don't know if she is a natural orator or did receive training in public speaking (there is absolutely nothing wrong in that, many people get it), but she spoke with such confidence and poise. Her speech was so well written.
If this woman has written her speech, then hats off to her.
I have nothing but respect.
three words haters gonna hate
@Kaleem: Developed countries first invest in their human resource by educating them and providing them health fascilities. Once the society is educated then they go after projects like bullet trains and infra-structure..Education has to be top priority of any gov who wants to see nation flourshing in longer run.
Shabaz Sharif is envious of this little girl,,, sad to see CM punjab seeing in this little girl as a potential competitor for fame.
@iram MALALA received a standing ovation ....... Considering that she comes SWAT (rural Pakistan), she outperformed and excelled in the rendition of her speech. She was OUTSTANDING.
That was the idea, CM Saahab. She is a symbol for women empowerment universally.
she will do better next time, bear with her.
That was an absolutely brilliant speech for a 16 year old from rural Pakistan!
She is a symbol and inspiration for women empowerment and education in the third world, what more do you want?
First of all the speech was at the UN General Assembly in New York.
Secondly, it was about "Global" education crisis, not Pakistan's.
Thirdly, you should be proud that at least someone from Pakistan is seen as a sign of hope globally.
Last, you should learn to take criticism of your "strategic" friends in a sober and more mature way. We know it hurts people like you from the inside but can you be less obvious?
@FN, Seemingly you have more vision than all of them? PML-N is in center, singlehandedly because of this man. Now, please share your vision what bullet trains are for? Its not co-incidence that you see bullet trains only in developed countries.
The way Malala delivered the speech is outstanding !!!!!! SWAT district must feel very proud. Pakistanis must be elated!!!!!. I think that Shabaaz Nawaaz must employ Malala with the job to speak for him at all his rallies. The sixteen year old outshines HIM. What is the type of speech that YOU (Shabaaz) would write for a sixteen year old girl?
