ISLAMABAD:

On the directions of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), Dr Mehmood Jamal assumed charge as the acting chief of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on Wednesday.

“Prof Jamal came to me on Wednesday and asked me to give charge to him as directed by the court and the Ministry of Capital Administration & Development (CADD), I obliged,” said Dr Iqbal Memon who was the serving acting administrator Pims.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui on July 5 had directed CADD to appoint Jamal as acting executive director (ED) of Pims after a writ petition was filed by Dr Iftikhar Ahmad Khan, challenging the appointment of
Memon as Pims administrator.

Jamal was earlier serving as ED Pims from April 28, 2010 and was removed by the previous Pakistan People’s Party government in October 2012.
