ISLAMABAD: The European Union (EU) Election Observer Mission has prepared a list of 50 recommendations for parties and the Election Commission of Pakistan, based on observations of May 11 elections.

EU Election Observer Mission head, Michael Gahler met Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Monday at his residence to share the recommendations that would be made public on Wednesday.

“The recommendations by the commission would be a good source of information for the future reference of all concerned parties,” said Jan Achakzai, official JUI-F spokesperson, while refusing to share the recommendations.

The EU mission chief met Fazl particularly because he had earlier expressed concerns over the free and fair conduct of elections.

Gahler wanted to check whether Fazl’s complaints had been addressed, according to Achakzai.
