Academic research: ‘Policy making should be grounded’

Coordinated efforts by researchers and industrialists would ensure food security in the country, says Munir.

FAISALABAD: “National policy formation should be grounded in university research,” Agriculture Secretary Ijaz Munir said on Monday. Addressing a meeting at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), Munir said coordinated efforts by researchers and industrialists would ensure food security in the country. He said he would convene a meeting of all stakeholders to map out a comprehensive plan to lift the agriculture sector. Munir said that an exhibition centre being set up at the UAF campus would help farmers learn about new techniques.
