RAWALPINDI: No tax will be levied on houses less than five marlas in cantonment areas. This was said by PML-N MNA Malik Ibrar on Sunday.

Ibrar recalled that five-marla houses were granted tax exemption in 2007. However, he said that the owners of bigger houses and bungalows should pay their dues honestly to help finance development projects for the people in his constituency, NA-54.

He said survey work will be conducted in 14 union councils of Potohar Town, which has been integrated in tax rating areas, and their records will be computerised. Survey staff has been directed to complete field work by October 30 and data compilation and computerisation work by December 30. Excise Director Shakilur Rehman has issued directives that a property tax survey be carried out in a transparent manner and within the stipulated time frame.
