Beaten to death: Man arrested for killing servant

Protesters dispersed after a police team visited the scene and informed them that Chattha has been arrested.

HAFIZABAD: A man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly beating his 22-year-old servant to death. The arrest was made after the family of the deceased protested in front of the police station for several hours. The protesters, relatives of the deceased and residents of the Murh Chattha area, said that Sajid Ali had worked for Arshad Ahmed Chattha, a landlord, for several years. They said Chattha was abusive and would often beat Ali. They said a few days ago, Ali quit and returned home. On Sunday, they said, Chattha forcibly took him back. A few hours later, they said, they were informed that Ali had died. They said Chattha had beated him to death. The family placed the body on Vanike Chowk and protested against the landlord. They demanded that the landlord be arrested. They dispersed after a Vanike Tarar police team visited the scene and informed them that Chattha had been arrested.
