Border Issues: Captain’s body to come via Sri Lanka

Captain Jamshed Yar Khan, died on July 2 while he was on an Italian ship anchored at Cochin Port in Kerala, India.

KARACHI: The body of a Pakistani captain who died in India will now be brought home via Sri Lanka since Indian authorities refused to send it though their port. Ansar Burney Trust International announced that the deceased, Captain Jamshed Yar Khan, died on July 2 while he was on an Italian ship ‘LDM Fortuna’ which was anchored at Cochin Port in Kerala, India. The trust chairperson and former federal minister, Ansar Burney, said that after the death, the requisite NOC was issued by the Pakistan High Commission but due to unknown reasons, Cochin Police later refused to let Ship Fortuna offload the body. The body was then taken the body to Colombo, SriLanka, to repatriate to Pakistan. After the post-mortem at Karapitiya Hospital Galle, the body will be sent to Pakistan.
