Rescue 1122: ‘90 per cent calls to helpline pranks'

71,342 out of 72,616 calls were pranks.

BAHAWALPUR: In a report issued for June, Rescue 1122’s Rahim Yar Khan organization revealed that the agency received 72,616 calls during the month out of which 71,342  were prank calls. Further, the report stated that the rescuers responded to 807 medical cases, 385 road accidents, 56 cases of violence, 16 fire emergencies, and 9 drowning cases, helping 1,421 people, said Adnan Shabbir, a Rescue 1122 representative. Fifty seven people were killed and 553 were injured in traffic accidents in June. 56 of these accidents occurred on Khanpur Road, 43 on Shahbaz Road, 30 on DCO Office Road, 28 on Taj Garh Road, 20 on Palace Road, 21 on Manthaar Road, 7 on Meo Mubarak Road, 5 on Chandrami Road, 5 on Airport Road, and 5 in Gulshan Usman.
