Rocket attack: Police, levies check post partially destroyed in Hangu

A police check post was partially destroyed when suspected militants fired rockets at it from an unknown location on Saturday in Miangi Khel, Hangu district.


Thal police official Farid Khan said around 6am five rockets were fired at the joint check post of Bandoqi police and district levies, destroying its outer wall. Khan added two of the rockets fell on the roof of a nearby petrol station, fortunately, the petrol tanks were at a distance and a blast was averted.

According to Khan, the boundary wall of the check post was completely destroyed and no casualties were reported.

Khan said the levies and policemen vacated the check post and cordoned off the area. A search operation was launched, but no arrests were made till the filing of this report. Khan claimed the rockets were fired by militants from nearby mountains.
