Sindh Open Golf tees off today

Rs1.5 million-event to receive live coverage.

KARACHI: The country’s top professional players will show up at the picturesque Arabian Sea Country Club to vie for honours at the prestigious Sindh Open Golf Championship as the three-day event begins today.

Shabbir Iqbal, Matloob Ahmed and Mohammad Munir, along with Waheed Baloch, who recently clinched the CNS Golf Championship title, will start as top contenders for the championship that is offering Rs1.5 million as prize money.

In a rare initiative, the organisers have arranged live coverage of the entire event.

Apart from the professional contest, the championships will be contested in various categories including amateur, ladies, senior professionals, amateur subsidiary, ladies subsidiary and junior events for girls and boys.

The professional and amateur events will be played over 54 holes in three rounds, while the junior categories will be contested over 36 holes.

The highlight of last year’s event was a hole-in-one by golfers Pervez Akhtar and Misal Khan.
