In the line of duty: Larkana police lose three officials in encounter, accident

The alleged bandits in the village opened fire on the police reportedly leading to a gun battle.

Two police officials were killed in an encounter and two others were injured when their vehicle overturned on National Highway near Khudabad village near Dadu, on Wednesday.


Larkana police officials, led by inspector Waheed Abro, were travelling to Karachi in a police van to apprehend a criminal when one of the vehicle’s tyres burst. Subsequently, the driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned. As a result two of the police officials, Ashfaq Ahmed and Mohammad Ismail, were killed on the spot, while two others, Hubdar and Saleem, sustained injuries. The injured were shifted to Larkana hospital for treatment.

In a separate incident, a police official and a bandit were killed, while two other policemen were injured in an encounter between the police and bandits in Sadiq Jeho village within Garhi Yasin police limits in Shikarpur on Wednesday. A police team, led by Larkana SSP Pir Mohammad Shah, raided Sadiq Jeho village. The alleged bandits in the village opened fire  on the police reportedly leading to a gun battle.

Policeman, Anwar Ali Mumrani, and bandit, Sagheer Jeho, were killed, while two other policemen, Abdul Shakoor Bapar and Haider Ali Bhutto, were injured.
