HYDERABAD:

An electrician was electrocuted to death while he was installing aerial bundle cables for the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) in Qasimabad Town on Wednesday.

According to Hesco spokesperson Sadiq Kubar, the deceased, 25-year-old Barkat Ali Memon, was not their employee and worked for the contractor, Zafar Enterprise, which was given the installation work.

Kubar claimed that the electric supply to the area was suspended during the installation.

He said that the Hesco has given guidelines about safety measures to all its contractors and any violation may bring penalty or outright cancellation of the contract.

He further added that an inquiry committee is being formed to investigate the incident and fix the issue. The current could flow through the PVC cables to the poles from the electric generators of UPS systems, used in households, connected with that pole, he explained.
