Roadside explosion: One killed, three injured in IED blast

A tribesman was killed and three others were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by unidentified militants detonated at a roadside in Akka Khel, Upper Kurram Agency on Monday morning.


A vehicle en route to Parachinar from Mali Khel reached Akka Khel around 7am when the IED exploded, said a political administration official. The driver was killed on the spot, while three passengers were injured. The vehicle was also completely destroyed.

The tribesmen were shopkeepers who were going to Parachinar to procure household goods when the incident occurred, informed the official.

Locals shifted the victims to District Headquarters Hospital, Parachinar where the deceased driver was identified as Paizar Hussain and the injured as Sadar Gul, Ibrar Hussain and Laiq Hussain. After the explosion, Kurram Scouts surrounded the area and started a search operation. No arrests were made till the filing of this report.
