Domestic issue: Woman gunned down

The assailant escaped.

A woman was gunned down by her brother-in-law over domestic issue at Dhoke Jumma, in the jurisdiction of the Civil Line Police Station on Saturday.


Sub Inspector (SI) Ghulam Naseer said that the victim, Shumaila Bibi, 21, who married her cousin Abid a year ago, had been living with parents after developing differences with husband.

He said that Ghazanfar, the brother-in-law of Shumaila, went to her parents house to take her back, but she refused and they exchanged hot words. In the meanwhile, Ghazanfar pulled out his pistol and shot her in the head thrice, killing her on the spot, the police officer said. The assailant escaped.

The SI said that Ghazanfar’s father has assured them that he would cooperate with the police in tracing the whereabouts of his son. A case had been registered and further investigation is underway.
