KARACHI: Pakistan’s Sadia Gul finished sixth in the girls U17 category at the Asian Junior Individual Squash Championship after losing her fifth-place play-off against Hong Kong’s Lam Wing Hei Jannis 3-1 in Jordan yesterday.

Sadia put up a fight against the joint fifth-seed in all
the four games but her inability to finish off the games cost her as she lost with game scores of 11-8, 12-10, 8-11 and 11-8.

The youngster, who hails from Peshawar and was recently snubbed by the Pakistan Squash Federation for the Asian Senior Individual Championship, vowed to make a strong comeback.

Head coach Jamshed Gul praised the player for putting up a brave fight in all her matches.

“Sadia has improved a lot since last year,” Gul told The Express Tribune. “She never went down without a fight in any of the matches. She has great potential and will only get better with exposure and experience. For me, sixth position is quite satisfactory.”
