KARACHI: A district and sessions judge, Muhammad Ali Memon, sent a doctor on physical remand on Friday.

Mewal Das was arrested in connection with the death of a teenage girl, Zareena.

The father of the 13-year-old girl told the court that his daughter had died while receiving treatment by the said doctor at the Barkha Medical Centre in Gulshan-e-Hadeed.

She was being treated for high fever, he said. The complainant claimed that Zareena died after getting an expired injection.

The doctor told the court, however, that he had administered a drip to the girl but when she complained of breathing problems, he referred her to another hospital, where she passed away.

A case, no. 180/13, under section 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code was lodged at the Steel Town police station.
