Addressing media personnel at DI Khan commissioner’s office, the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) leader said the federal government has to take all stakeholders into confidence as Pakistan was passing through a difficult phase. Sherpao added unless a consensus was forged the state could not wipe out the scourge of militancy.

The minister also demanded the federal government either end or reduce the hours of load-shedding in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). “The provincial government is taking steps to produce electricity from its own resources in the wake of the 18th constitutional amendment,” he said.
Sherpao added an independent accountability commission would be set up in the province, for which money has been allocated in the provincial budget. He said the commission would be set up in 60 to 70 days.
“Our priority is to bring an end to corruption in K-P, and several steps are being taken in this regard,” said Sherpao. “We are introducing reforms in several areas including irrigation, public health and local government within 60 days.”
The minister added complaint cells would be set up in various government departments, including the chief minister’s secretariat.
He further added a meeting of the Council of Common Interest would be held where the Lift Canal Project would be brought under consideration. “In addition to helping the province, the project will also benefit the entire country’s agricultural development sector.”
QWP chief Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, Commissioner Ahmad Jadon, DPO Sohail Khalid, QWP DI Khan district President Khuda Bakhish and other local leaders along with government officials were present at the occasion.
