Sufi music

Letter June 27, 2013
The poetry he sings is evergreen and the way Asrar has sung the song displays great passion.

TAMPA, FLORIDA, USA: This is with reference to the story “Asrar searching for sufism in times of pop” (June 27). In these times of terrorism and all sorts of bad news coming out of Pakistan, Asrar’s music comes as a breath of fresh air. The poetry he sings is evergreen and the way Asrar has sung the song displays great passion. Sufism has always been at the heart and soul of Pakistani music from the times of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan to Junoon to some of our present-day stars. I see a spark of brilliance in Asrar as well.
